A BitterSweet Reunion......

We drove up to Kansas City to see the KC Royals play the Chicago Cubs AND to meet for the first time EVER ... Stephen's Aunt Betty & cousins!
Stephen's Dad has a little sister that for many reasons were somewhat estranged.....We all knew about her but our families had never met! Thanks to Sherry & her daughter Shannon AND to Megan and myself for all getting hooked on ancestry.com .... we forged a bond .... we all became seekers of truth!
We loaded up a box of old photos and met everyone over breakfast in The Plaza ... then headed back to Sherry's lovely home to put the "Taylor" puzzle together!

We knew immediately that this had to be Grandpa's younger sister .... she had his eyes! Stephen and I fell in love with her within moments... Betty is three years younger than her brother Charles! He passed away in 1997 and there has not been a day in our life that we have not missed him so very much! To meet her only brought us back to the man we have always loved!
It was a incredible moment for Stephen and I :)

And then there was Stephen's cousin Sherry! Aunt Betty's daughter who is Stephen's age ....she's so vibrant and sweet and is responsible for all of us coming together! Thank you Sherry for opening your arms and home to us!

Sherry's daughter Shannon joined us also! Megan & Shannon became aware of each other while searching for family history and started sharing information... I think they are 2nd cousins... Megan was disappointed she couldn't join us :( She would have loved to been with all of us to put the missing pieces together!

Who knew for sure we would hit it off and all like each other so quickly? But it happened!
We had never met but our memories were so similar that we knew we were family with just different stories... and a different take on all the events that transpired through the years!

Stephen & Sherry discovered they are in the same profession ... She owns a professional cleaning company in Kansas City! We also became acquainted with Stephen's history of his Grandparents! Grandpa Charle's & Aunt Betty's Mom was pure German Jewish.... Her name was Elise!
We are so excited about that!

How sweet is this? Stephen meeting his Dad's sister! We all enjoyed going through old photos and telling stories of what we knew of the "Taylor" side of the family! Most of all we loved to tell them about the wonderful life that Grandpa & Grandma had the 50 years they were married! Grandpa's sister (Aunt Betty) has been married for 69 years!

We ended our get together with promises of more to come! Yeah!
We can't to wait to see our family again in Tulsa or Kansas City....
P.S. Kansas City is so cool!

Happy Father's Day

Beau brought over a gift early on Father's Day! Dillan Grace Taylor! We took Abuelo to his favorite "hole in wall" mexican restaurant for lunch, that was fun! Beau also gave his Dad this crazy looking hat!

Megan started texting and calling Stephen all day long with Happy Father's Day greetings!

About 19 years ago on Father's Day we had Stephen lay down on a piece of plywood ... we then traced his outline and then sawed out this life like image! He's been standing around in one room or another ever since:)

The Taylors love Santa Barbara!
Megan went to UCSB :) We have spent alot of time in this beautiful place! Just recently Megan and I met up with our friend Dorothy to tour the gardens of Lotusland! I received an email from Dorothy .... she's hoping to have tea with the royals when they visit the Polo Fields next to Lotusland:)

Can you believe it? The royals are coming to town. I will be sure to have my tea service shining in case they decide to stop in for a visit to Lotusland.
You never know since the polo field is down the road!
Go for it Dorothy!
Love it.....Can't wait!

Dillan's Favorite New Song!

Which, by the way.... she sings perfectly :)
Today she danced around the house singing this lovely tune!

According to Mommy Kim.... we have Grandma Gina to "Thank" for introducing her to this all time favorite song!
Mary Poppins or should I say MERRY? It does make you happy singing along!

I Loved Revisiting Paris... With Stephen Sitting Next To Me At The Movies!

Stephen took me to Paris on March 12 .... returning March 21 ..... It was the GREATEST TRIP OF MY LIFE! (Many years ago)
Stephen and I really loved this movie, why? First off we have always been huge Woody Allen fans! The first movie we ever saw together was Woody's Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex* (*But Were Afraid to Ask) (1972)....We were always in the line at the premier of his latest movie in Westwood, California! We were lucky that Grandma & Grandpa lived near Westwood so we had the perfect babysitters! We have been there for his many successful movies and sadly disappointed with his failures BUT we keep coming back on opening day to see if he can bring back some of his witty Annie Hall stuff etc! He delivered yesterday when we saw "Midnight In Paris"!
The reviews have been good! We whole heartedly agree :)

In recent years Woody picks someone to portray him in the movie and Luke Wilson was perfect! Good casting!
Megan was a casting director for many years until she got into "Design"......

Megan's Birthday Party!

So sad for Mommy & Daddy .... So sad for Megan! We will not be shopping for a fun nautical gift with everyone!
Stephen and I are so heartfelt sorry that we cannot attend this splendid event to celebrate our first born child.... Sweet Megan Meredith Taylor! She was the most loving baby girl, born with a head full of brown curls and a smile!

Have lots of fun everyone!

My Sister Jill When She Was Little :)

I don't remember Jill when she was little because I'm even more so little... she's 4 to 5 years older than me!
This photo was from the Ithana Club Fashion show that she danced in.... It was at the Methodist Church in Henryetta, Oklahoma:)

Jill is in your upper left corner!
A friend of mine from The Swinging Rakes garden club was once best friends with my sister Jill when they were wee ones! We somehow discovered this info and I had the chance to reunite them a few years ago at a nice little luncheon. Di is her name and she's in the upper right corner of the photo! She recently sent me this fun photo of them, circuit mid 1950's I believe?
