Lynne came into town from her country estate just to see our old friend Stan! They go back even farther than Stephen and I ... everyone is so delighted that Stan has come back to visit! We really enjoyed meeting Stan's son, Jimmy and his baseball buddy Danny! The Shaners were off to Fayetteville today ... but come Monday evening .....more old friends are coming over for a bar-b-que to celebrate with a friend from way back when!

After 27 Years .... Stan Shaner Returns To T-Town!

We became best friends with Stan 30 years ago! Stephen and Stan bonded because they were born and raised on the west coast ... California boys! Stan moved back to LA in 1982 and we followed the year after....we have remained close friends all these years ....Stan & his lovely wife Dorothy & four kids were on Naples Island and up in Santa Barbara and we were in Manhattan Beach, Westlake Village & Shell Beach!


Stan and his son, Jimmy are visiting Tulsa for Labor Day weekend! Jimmy is hanging out with his best friend, Danny ....who is going to school & playing baseball for ORU!


Stephen, Stan and I shopped in Utica Sqare! CrabTree & Evelyn, Bed & Body Works and Pottery Barn were especially happy to see us coming! It doesn't matter what you do with Stan .... you always have a good time and you spend most of the time just laughing!

Peter Taylor Is In Istanbul Turkey? Yes, It's True!

Stephen's brother has dashed off to Istanbul by himself for a whirl wind Labor Day weekend!!!

While we traveled the back roads this past weekend ...we, by happen chance, came along this little town called "Watts"!!! My maiden name is Watts.... I was Jane Meredith Watts before I married Mr. Stephen Taylor 36 years ago! Like most little rural towns....it's definitely seen it's day! I was, however, impressed that it still had a few important things a town needs ....so I took some pictures! Hope you enjoy the slide show!

Michelle...Baby Matine & Grandma Kerri....

These two sisters shared a great adventure traveling up to Livingston, Montana! Baby Matine was happy to see them! Michelle sadly had to go home after a week but ... Kerri and husband Jim have bought a 2nd home in Livingston so they can spend part of the year... around the corner from Baby Matine, Brooke & Peter!

It's lunch time and we are in Springfield, Missouri..... we pulled out our phones to use our handy applications! Thank you Apple!


Checking the AROUND ME app & the URBANSPOON app on our iPhones ....under bar-b-que... this eating establishment popped up!


We stopped here on our way to Table Rock Lake for ribs & pulled pork! The nice man that greeted us asked, "Would you like smoking or non smoking?" Our mouths fell open! I thought smoking was banned in all restaurants? He said, "No Ma'am, we Missourians take pride in saving our individual rights!"


These two "Blues Brothers Pigs" hovered over our booth while we dined!

Couples Massage???????

Immediately when we arrived at the Chateau on the Lake Resort we headed down to the luxury spa for a couple's massage!

After being pampered for a few hours ... we meandered up to the terrace and sipped grown up beverages! We watched the boats out on the lake zoom around and we watched a fun group of people frolicking in the pool!


And we watched the sunset......


And we thought to ourselves ... what a lovely way to begin our weekend get-away!

If you are ever in Northwest Arkansas you MUST stop by AQ chicken house.... It's sooooooooo GOOD! They pan fry the chicken the old fashion way in a cast iron skillet! It's located in Springdale on hwy 71B

TABLEROCK LAKE ADVENTURE SLIDESHOW.......

We rented a pontoon boat and picked up a gourmet picnic lunch basket.....grabbed some fishing polls and some worms ....then headed out on the lake for over four hours!

I LOVE TALKING ON THE PHONE WITH MEGAN EVERY DAY!

Of course, she doesn't call from a pay phone ...she calls my IPhone from her IPhone! Most every morning she calls me while she and Walter Scottie Dog are walking up to Starbucks! Yesterday she called me while driving along the beautiful coastline on her way to Santa Barbara! Lots of times she calls me while shopping! If she calls and is whispering....she's calling from work and our conversation will be very short! We talk and talk and if she's getting another call she just ignores it.... UNLESS ...it's the Handsome Tim Root!

Stephen said it was his favorite movie of the year but you can only watch the screen 97% of the time! Because of the violence! I held my Marc By Marc Jacobs purse in front of my head every time the basterds did the scalpings .... it was funny too! Totally Quinten Torentino!!!

A Sketch Of The Baby.....

Summer Time & The Living Is Easy!

Every summer time event should have someone walking around ....handing out big fat colorful balloons!


We WALKED up to Utica Square for the concert last night... it had rained earlier so the air was balmy and romantic!
A popular rock n' roll band played every one's favorites! Toes were tapping!


Stephen picked up bagel sandwiches from the "newest" hot spot on the "Restless Ribbon" .....Old School Bagel ...There's no New York in the name, but the bagels are the same!


We saw babies in strollers, lots of cute kids, young couples holding hands, every breed of dog imaginable and generations of family, gathered around dining on homemade delicacies! All this while humming to the music!

COUNTRY LIFE

Kerri, Lynne, Gail and I....Tuesday morning we all met up at Lynne's new home she now shares with her newlywed hubby, Sir Lawrence! What a fabulous place...attached to a private air strip! Lynne & Lawrence can take off in their helicopter or airplane in a Cleveland Oklahoma minute! So cool! They can also launch their boats around the corner into Lake Keystone! Or drive down their winding hillside on their motorcycles for a buzz through the countryside! Lynne has started a "secret garden"! From there the four of us toodled into town for cheese burgers at the world renowned "Dugout" in Cleveland! We then took highway 99 out to Gail's little place! Just 26 acres and a three story home! We all came home with bags of fresh produce from her delightful gardens! It was fun being together and exploring country life....

Smart Water?

What's in the water on South St Louis Ave?
Claire lives next door during the summer @ Christmas and during spring break! The other time of the year.....she attends USC (University of Southern California) Andy and Pam would have to cough up around $30,000 each year except that Claire is so smart, she has a full scholarship! Our neighbors across the street have a son that attends school @ The University of California Berkley! Smart water!


We ran into Claire downtown at McNellie's, where she has been waitressing this summer and raking in good tips! She leaves this week to head back to USC! Good Luck Claire and all you other students that are heading back to school!
I couldn't help framing her picture in rival UCLA colors!

We went to church this morning and Dr. Miller preached a sermon titled, Who do you think you are, the Queen of Sheba?
Curiosity got the best of me, here are two paintings of the real Queen of Sheba!


She took a long journey to visit the wise King of Solomon! I'd heard the expression all of my life and I thought it meant that someone was conceited and rich and high and mighty etc... turns out I was wrong! It's a compliment!


The Queen of Sheba took him lots of gold & jewels & gifts but all she wanted in return were the answers to questions...his wisdom!
Oliver Wendell Holmes said, "The great thing in this world is not so much where we stand as in what direction we are moving".
No one really becomes a fool until they stop asking questions!

All Things Crazy #2 and #3...

It's pretty CRAZY to have a Statue Of Liberty in Tulsa, Oklahoma! It's located in the front of an old brick school built in 1920! The plaque underneath says it was dedicated to the school by The Boy Scouts Of America!


Not far from the Statue Of Liberty is a hamburger joint called Ty's...oddly enough, this cheeseburger aficionado has NOT been inside to try out a cheeseburger? ...But it looks like from the sign that at least more than 36 people have? Pretty CRAZY!
